With 28 days left in the 2017 Texas Legislative Session, we are getting down to the lick log and will soon find out which Republican state representatives will find the courage to do what is right and force Speaker Straus and his puppeteer, Rep. Byron Cook, to allow them to vote for SB 6, the Women’s Privacy Act, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”
Our polling data has shown that 84% of Republican primary voters support SB 6, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!” This is Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s top priority. SB 6 was the first major piece of major legislation that passed the Texas Senate on March 14 by an overwhelming majority of 21-10. Cook and his puppet, Straus, hate Lt. Gov. Patrick because of his strong Christian stand and his conservative agenda. The Straus leadership team has done everything to derail Patrick’s agenda. SB 6 has not even been referred to a House committee for a hearing.
Governor Abbott has publicly stated that he wants a bill that would prohibit men and boys from entering women’s and girls’ bathrooms, showers and locker rooms. The pressure is now on the House to pass a bill that would protect the privacy and safety of women and girls.
Feeling the intense pressure from grassroots conservative Republicans, like you, across the state to pass SB 6, the Straus team has allowed a weakened version of SB 6, identified as HB 2899, to be introduced in the Texas House. They are trying to let some steam out of the boiling pot. A hearing was held on this bill in Cook’s State Affairs Committee on Wednesday, April 19. It has not even been passed out of this committee as of yesterday. Cook has no desire for HB 2899 to reach the House floor by the bewitching deadline of Wednesday, May 10. No House bill can be passed after that date. If HB 2899 were to be brought to the floor, then it would be amended with the language of SB 6. Cook and Straus know that it would overwhelmingly pass the House and they do not want this to happen.
At some point before the session ends at midnight May 31, if Straus will not allow a vote on SB 6 by the House, then a motion to vacate the chair needs to be made and Straus needs to be replaced as speaker, so that SB 6 can be voted upon by the elected state representatives in the House. I fully expect that this will occur.
This is exactly what the Straus team attempted to do to then Speaker Tom Craddick at the end of the 2007 Texas Legislative Session. Craddick would not entertain the motion to vacate. This ultimately led to Craddick’s defeat in his attempt to be reelected to a fourth term as speaker in 2009. Straus was then elected speaker.
Doesn’t Straus have any concern about men entering the bathrooms, showers and locker rooms that his wife and daughters use? Shouldn’t all the Republican state representatives have a concern about protecting the privacy and safety of their mothers, wives, daughters and granddaughters? And shouldn’t Democrats share the same concern? This is a core issue that strikes at the heart of the moral fabric of our society.
If a representative does not have the courage to protect women and girls and keep them from harm’s way, then he is as worthless as chaff that the wind drives away, or as a three-day old bucket of urine.
What is so hard about supporting legislation that says, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”? SB 6 is supported by 84% of Republican primary voters.

How in the world are we going to save our Christian culture and advance Biblical values if our elected Republican legislators do not have the courage to fight the homosexual political movement’s attempt to use the power of law to force us to accept, affirm and celebrate sexually deviant and perverted lifestyles?
The wicked homosexual political movement and their lackeys in the legislature want local government and public schools to allow perverted men and boys, who fantasize that they are women, to enter women’s and girls’ bathrooms, showers and locker rooms. The homosexuals want to create moral and sexual anarchy in our society.
How hard is it to support legislation that would prohibit men and boys from entering women’s bathrooms, showers and locker rooms? This is a no-brainer. Not only is it the right thing to do, but 84% of Republican Primary voters agree, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”
I am not going to tell you that this is the most controversial issue facing the State Legislature and therefore the most important issue. You can decide that for yourself.
“Like a trampled spring and a polluted well, is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.” (Proverbs 25:26)
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing!
“Through God we shall do valiantly, and it is He who will tread down our adversaries.” (Psalm 108:13)
“The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hands of the Lord and He turns it wherever He wishes.” (Proverbs 21:1)
Pray that God would turn the heart of Speaker Joe Straus and Rep. Cook to do what is right and let the House vote on SB 6.
