President, Conservative Republicans of Texas
The first Texas legislative special session has concluded. Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Patrick, and the Texas Senate stood up for conservative values and fought for the principles and planks outlined in our Republican Party of Texas Platform. Conversely, the Texas House and its leader Joe Straus stood with the liberal left and their agenda for our state, working to kill the good work done by the Senate. Women’s Privacy, property tax relief, and school choice, all died in the state House, leaving few of Governor Abbott’s legislative priorities passed. Clearly, Joe Straus won the first round. Like most fights, however, there is more than one round. The question for Governor Abbott is whether he will allow Joe Straus to hijack the conservative agenda or, instead, will he fight for our values and call a second special session. It boils down to who will blink first? Who will give in? Who will quit? Will Governor Abbott throw in the towel or ring the bell to begin round two? It in imperative that Governor Abbott stand up to the legislative bully, King Straus. To further assert his authority, and thumb his nose at Governor Abbott, Joe Straus was so emboldened that the House decided to end its session one day early, leaving Governor Greg Abbott’s priorities sitting on Joe Straus’ desk gathering dust.
The day lawmakers adjourned, a three judge federal panel held that two congressional districts in Texas violated the federal Voting Rights Act, requiring the districts to be redrawn before the 2018 election. In their opinion, the federal court gave Texas Republicans the choice of redrawing the lines or allowing the court to do it. This gives the governor another great reason to call a second special session.
It is time we demand another special special session to deal with Women’s Privacy, i.e., keeping men out of women’s bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms, property tax reform, and school choice.
ACTION ITEM: We cannot retreat and surrender to the Joe Straus’ liberal left. Please contact Governor Abbott’s office today and demand that he call another special session. Governor Abbott can be contacted at the following:

To do any thing less than call a second special session is a complete surrender to Joe Straus’s liberal agenda for our state. Tell Governor Abbott to fight the good fight!
