Joe Straus announced that he is not running for reelection. During his tenure, Straus blocked myriad conservative agenda items, including: privacy for women (no men in women’s bathrooms); school choice; pro-life legislation; property tax relief; real sanctuary city legislation and much more.
With this announcement, It truly is a great day for Texas. We want to give glory to God for this victory. The Bible says, “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the battle belongs to the Lord.”
CRTXNEWS wants to thank conservative champions like the Grahams and Texas Right to Life; Michael Quinn Sullivan and Empower Texans; Gary Polland and the Texas Conservative Review; Terry Lowry and the Link Letter; Jonathan Saenz and Texas Values; Ann Hettinger with Conservative Women of Texas; Tim Lambert and the Home School Coalition; Dave Welch and the Houston Area Pastors Council and countless other leaders and conservative voters who worked tirelessly to make sure the “Oust Straus” battle had a successful conclusion. You picked up the phone and called your legislator, you signed the petition, you sent the e-mails…Great Job! We could not have done this without you…you made the difference!
We also want to thank the brave legislators which make up the House Freedom Caucus: Kyle Biedermann; Briscoe Cain; Matt Krause; Mike Lang; Jeff Leach; Matt Rinaldi; Matt Schaefer; Matt Shaheen; Jonathan Stickland; Valoree Swanson; Tony Tinderholt and Bill Zedler
For our part, CRTXNEWS represented you by sending out daily e-mails, sponsoring an online petition to “Oust Straus” (thousands signed) and made millions of phone calls.
Now, the work continues. We have the opportunity to elect a conservative speaker who will move the ball BUT, it is just that…an opportunity. We must capitalize on it to ensure conservative victories moving forward.
