Last night, Texas House Speaker, Joe Straus, threw Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick a bone.
Around 8:40pm last night, the Texas House overwhelming passed Rep. Chris Paddie’s weak, pathetic amendment to Senate Bill 2078, a bill which deals with independent school districts’ and charter schools’ multi-hazard emergency operations plans and other school safety measures for disasters.
Paddie’s milk toast amendment, drafted by the Straus/Cook leadership team added a poorly worded bathroom requirement to SB 2078. This was Speaker Straus’ way of demonstrating his complete dismissal of the concern of 84% of Republican primary voters who want no perverted men and boys, who have some sexual fantasies that they are women, to enter their mothers’, wives’, daughters’ or granddaughters’ public or school bathrooms, showers or locker rooms. These Republican voters want to protect the privacy and safety of women and girls. Polling has demonstrated that an overwhelming majority of non-Republican voters share this position. Many Republican state representatives have been pushing for a vote on this issue since the beginning of the legislative session in January.
Senate Bill 6 (SB 6), the Women’s Privacy Act, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”, was passed overwhelmingly by the Texas Senate on March 14 by a 21-10 margin and sent to the House for its approval. Speaker Straus has blocked this bill, despite his promise to the contrary, and has never even sent it to a committee for a hearing, which is required before it could be voted upon by the Texas House. Straus has denied the people’s duly elected representatives a chance to debate and vote on SB 6. This was Lt. Gov. Patrick’s #1 legislative priority.
The Language of SB 6
Read SB 6 at http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/85R/billtext/html/SB00006I.htm, and see how strong, clear and direct it is in addressing the problem of perverted men and boys, who have sexual fantasies that they are women, from entering women’s and girls’ public and school bathrooms, showers and locker rooms.
The Marxist Democrats and their homofascist allies claim that those of us who believe in common sense and moral decency by maintaining separate men and women bathrooms, showers and locker rooms, as has been done in all societies for thousands of years, are deplorable haters, discriminators, and retards. They hurl expletives, and vile, vulgar curses at us. They are intolerant of us for holding to a Biblical standard of behavior. The homofascist political movement and their Democrat allies want to use the power of the law to force us to accept, affirm and celebrate those that promote and practice immoral and sexually deviant behavior. They want to teach their immorality to our children in the public schools, starting in Kindergarten. The cannot reproduce, so they pervert children’s minds at a tender age so that they can be more easily recruited into the homosexual lifestyle.
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And clever in their own sight!
Who justify the wicked,
And take away the rights of the righteous!
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes stubble
And dry grass collapses into the flame,
So their root will become like rot and their blossom blow away as dust;
For they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts
And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.” (Isaiah 5:20-24)
No one should ever be granted minority status and become a “protected class” because they have chosen to participate in immoral activity. A moral wrong should never be the basis for a civil right. Society has always discriminated against individuals who participate in immoral activity. We have laws against murder, rape, embezzling, robbery, assault and battery, defamation, child molestation, child abuse, etc. Businesses are not required to hire people who have been convicted of these immoral actions. No one should ever be forced to hire, do business with, or accept someone just because they have chosen, of their own volition, to participate in immoral activity.
What about the rights of the rest of us?
When you look up the word RINO in the dictionary, you should find a picture of Joe Straus, Speaker of the Texas House. Straus has done everything in his power to block Patrick’s conservative legislative agenda at every turn. Of the 30 conservative pieces of legislation passed by the Texas Senate, only a few have been voted upon by the House. Straus recently gutted the Property Tax Reduction Bill.
Here is Paddie’s amendment. See for yourself how pathetic it is.
Section 37.113. Restroom, Locker Room and Changing Facility Privacy and Safety.
(a) the board of trustees of the school district or the governing body of an open enrollment charter school shall ensure that each school or school facility accommodates the right of each student to access restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities with privacy, dignity and safety by requiring the provision of a single – occupancy facilities for use by a student who does not wish to use the facilities designated for use or commonly used by persons of the student’s biological sex. In this subsection, “single occupancy facility” includes a multi-occupancy facility only if the use occurs when no other persons are present.
(b) This section may be enforced only through an action instituted by the Attorney General for mandamus or injunctive relief. At the request of the school district or open enrollment charter school, the Attorney General shall defend the district or school and in an action challenging this section under the constitution or laws of the United States or under the Constitution of this state.
(c) This section may not be construed as requiring or authorizing a school district or an open enrollment charter school to disclose intimate details about a student.
There is no definition in Paddie’s amendment of what the term “biological sex” means as there is in SB 6. There is no monetary penalty attached to the bill for school districts that violate this amendment as there is in SB 6. It redefines “single occupancy facility” to mean “multi-occupancy facility” if no one is present. This amendment does not protect women or girls who use restrooms, showers, or locker rooms in other public facilities, government building or universities, or in cities, such as Dallas, Austin or San Antonio, where the so-called “transgendered” are required by law to be able to enter any and all public and private bathrooms, showers or locker rooms, this includes all businesses and churches.
This amendment was so worthless that Straus called in the Democrat leaders, which are his base of support, and told them to rail against this amendment, so that when it passed the conservative Republican base would feel like they had a victory. The Democrats knew that it was a worthless amendment and told that to Republican representatives. It was a FAKE amendment. This is how devious Straus is. Of course, the Paddie amendment passed overwhelmingly, 90-52.
Straus wanted this amendment to be proposed to give coverage to those 60 or so Republicans who had followed his lead and refused to sign on to SB 6. Now these politicians think that they can go back to their districts and tell their constituents that they protected girls’ privacy in schools. They are not going to be able to get away with this because CRTX News and conservative organizations will “out” them as being Straus’ and Cook’s lackeys who refused to sign on to SB 6. These reps can redeem themselves by putting pressure on Straus and Cook to get SB 6 up for a vote and voting for it. This will probably happen in a Special Session.
The cards are still in Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s hand to force a Special Session. Patrick told statewide pastors in a conference call last Thursday that he would not pass the Sunset Safety Net Bill which is required to keep certain state agencies from shutting down. State agencies have periodic sunset reviews which reauthorize their existence. The Sunset Safety Net Bill allows them to continue operating if the legislature has not yet reauthorized them.
Governor Abbott has clearly stated his support of legislation that would keep men out of women’s restrooms. Abbott has worked behind the scenes with Patrick to get SB 6 up for a vote by the House, but has been stonewalled by Straus and Cook. Abbott told Straus that he would add the issue of women’s privacy to the call for a Special Session.
To make matters worse, after the Paddie amendment passed, Straus slapped Patrick, the Texas Senate and the overwhelming majority of voters in Texas in the face when he released his news statement on the amendment.
Speaker Straus Statement on Senate Bill 2078
“Representative Paddie’s amendment will allow schools to continue to handle sensitive issues as they have been handling them. I believe this amendment will allow us to avoid the severely negative impact of Senate Bill 6. Members of the House wanted to act on this issue and my philosophy as speaker has never been to force my will on the body. Governor Abbot has said he would demand action on this in a special session, and the House decided to dispose of the issue in this way.”
Joe Straus, allow me to ask you the following, “What is the severe negative impact of protecting the privacy and safety of women and girls from perverted men and boys, who have sexual fantasies that they are women, and who demand that they be allowed to use women’s and girls’ bathrooms, showers and locker rooms? It seems that there is a severe negative impact on the morals of our society if we do not protect women and girls.
Joe, SB 6 would protect the privacy and safety of your wife and two daughters. Shouldn’t you be concerned about their privacy and safety?
Call Governor Abbott today and tell him to publicly support SB 6 and put it on the call for the Special Session.
Abbott’s office phone number is (512) 463-2000.
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for you to do nothing.
“Through God we shall do valiantly, and it is He who will tread down our adversaries.” (Psalm 108:13)
