Speaker Joe Straus and his puppeteer, Rep. Byron Cook, and the liberal Republican leadership in the Texas House are killing religious liberty legislation, including Senate Bill 6 (SB 6) the Women’s Privacy Act, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”, and its watered-down version, HB 2899. Straus and Cook are also blocking HB 1813 that protects the religious liberty and conscience rights of country clerks and justices of the peace as it relates to marriage licenses and ceremonies.

This legislative session ends in 24 days, on May 31, and critical deadlines are approaching. Today, Monday, May 8th, is the deadline for House bills to pass House committees, and Thursday, May 11th, is the deadline for House bills to be passed by the full House.

The Texas Senate overwhelmingly passed SB 6, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”, by a vote of 21-10 on March 14. Speaker Joe Straus has not even sent SB 6 to a House committee. It is sitting on his desk, gathering dust. This is a slap in the face of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and the Texas Senate.

84% of Republican primary voters support SB 6 and still Straus will not allow SB 6 to be voted upon by the Texas House.

By blocking SB 6, Straus and Cook and spineless Republican state representatives will allow local governments and school districts across Texas to allow men and boys, who perversely fantasize that they are women, to enter women’s and girls’ bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms.

We must oppose the aggressive political agenda of the homosexual/LGBT political movement which wants to use the power of law to force you, schools, churches, businesses and civil government to accept, affirm and celebrate those who practice deviant sexual activities.

The homosexual political movement wants the civil government to grant minority status to those involved in perverted sexual activities, so that they receive preferential treatment in hiring and government contracts.

A person’s choice to practice immoral sexual behavior should never be the basis for granting minority status and preferential treatment.

It is imperative that legislation be passed that protects the privacy and safety of our mothers, wives, daughters, and granddaughters, and stops all current and future local city ordinances and public school policies that allow men, including registered sex offenders, to use women’s bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms. The hearing on HB 2899, a watered-down version of SB 6, was completed three weeks ago and Cook has blocked it from being voted out of committee.

While religious liberty bills are being killed by Speaker Straus, Rep. Cook, and their liberal lieutenants in the House, the homosexual political agenda is advancing in the Texas House, specifically, HB 192 and HB 225. Both these bills, which aggressively advance the homosexual political agenda by creating new minority classes of individuals based upon sexual orientation and transgender identity, were passed by a House committee last week. Pro-homosexual RINO, Rep. Jason Villalba, cast the tie breaking vote in favor of both bills.

It is outrageous that legislation promoting the pro-homosexual political agenda is advancing in the Texas House while legislation protecting religious liberty legislation and legislation protecting the privacy and safety of women and girls are being killed by Straus, Cook and their lieutenants.

The only way that we can guarantee that we can defeat the pro-homosexual political movement, ensure that religious liberty is protected, keep men and boys out of women’s and girls’ bathrooms, showers and locker rooms in order to protect the safety of our children in school, is with your financial support and your action.

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing.

“Through God we shall do valiantly, and it is He who will tread down our adversaries.” (Psalm 108:13)

Keep fighting the good fight. Let’s press this battle to its successful conclusion!
