According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Target CEO, Brian Cornell, regrets his company’s policy that allows men, who claim to be women, including registered sex offenders, into women’s restrooms and dressing rooms at Target stores across the country. As you may recall, the “transgender” policy led to a massive #BoycottTarget rebellion across the country. According to AFA, “Inside [Target], executives predicted the backlash would die down. It didn’t, and foot traffic inside stores declined significantly in the months following AFA’s boycott announcement. Since the boycott started, Target’s stock has lost 35% of its value, and shuttered plans for major expansion project.”
We continue to join with Texas Values Action, AFA, US Pastors Council and many other pro-family organizations in calling for a boycott of Target until they end their dangerous, liberal policy that has led to numerous reports of voyeurism and other issues across the country in Target stores.
We must remain vigilant and continue to protect the privacy and safety of our mothers, wives, and daughters. We need to continue to support SB 6, the Women’s Privacy Act, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”, even as it is being blocked by Speaker Joe Straus and his lieutenants. SB 6 passed the Texas Senate over three weeks ago by a vote of 21-10. SB 6 prevents perverted men and boys from having access to women’s and girls’ public and school bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms. This legislation is expressly supported in the 2016 Republican Party of Texas Platform.
It appears that Speaker Joe Straus and his lieutenants in the Texas House want to ignore our Republican Party of Texas party platform. Speaker Joe Straus continues to block the people’s elected representatives in the Texas House from voting on this critical issue. It is time for us to stand against this type of tyranny. It is time for Joe Straus to let the people’s will be expressed through a vote on SB 6 by the Texas House.
Every Republican state representative voted for Straus to become Speaker.
Despite the fact that 84% of Republican primary voters agree that men should not be allowed to use women’s bathrooms, only 35 of 95 Republican State Representatives have announced their support for SB 6. It seems they would rather curry favor with Speaker Straus to gain political prestige than to challenge Straus on this issue and represent their constituents.
Target’s C.E.O. thought that there would be no significant effect on Target’s business by allowing men, who claim to be women, to enter women’s bathrooms and dressing areas at Target. He was wrong. A substantial number of Target customers voted with their feet and with their pocket books and decided to spend their hard earned money elsewhere. Target has lost 35% of its stock value since April 2016, due to declining sales and profits caused by the boycott of Target by various Christian organizations, most specifically, the American Family Association (AFA).
In the same way, Straus and his Republican supporters do not think that there will be any fallout from Republican voters because they refuse to allow a vote on SB 6. The Republican Primary in 2018 may see the defeat of many Republican state representatives because they refused to take a stand on this issue, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”, for fear of retaliation from Straus and his lieutenants.
TAKE ACTION: Contact your State Representative today and ask him or her to demand that Straus let the Texas House vote on SB 6, http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/. Tell your representative that you want “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!”
