Lt. Gov. Patrick/Sen. Kolkhorst File Legislation to Keep Men Out Of Women’s Bathrooms: SB 6 Texas Privacy Act

In 2015, we fought to defeat former Houston Mayor Annise Parker’s “Bathroom Ordinance.” The ordinance allowed biological males, who felt like they were females, to enter women’s showers, locker rooms, and dressing rooms. If the business owner refused, they could be prosecuted. After a long hard legal fight and political campaign, Houstonians finally had an opportunity to vote on Mayor Parker’s LGBT, social agenda for the city of Houston. The Bathroom Ordinance was overwhelming rejected by Houstonians, 61 to 39 percent. After the victory, the liberal left went into full force, pushing similar ordinances in Plano, Dallas and other cities across the state of Texas.
Recently, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick identified the safety and privacy of our wives, daughters, and granddaughters as a legislative priority, reserving Senate Bill 6 for the Texas Privacy Act. Texas Senator Lois Kolkhorst filed the Texas Privacy Act, to protect the privacy, safety and dignity of women in bathrooms and locker rooms in all government buildings, including public schools. Like the city of Houston, the Obama led federal government and some local governments in Texas continue to push their liberal, LGBT agenda, allowing men into women’s bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms. Texans need a state law to protect the privacy and safety of our family members. We need consistent and transparent standards on this significant issue across the state. SB6 makes it clear that government entities can not allow biological males in girl’s bathrooms and changing facilities. The legislation states that government officials are to follow the biological sex listed on a person’s birth certificate. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Sen. Kolkhorst held a press conference announcing the legislation that you can watch here.
We will keep you posted on the status of the legislation and provide you a list of action items to assist in getting this important legislation passed.
Onward to Victory!
