Conservative Republicans of Texas
“Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:7-9)
In the book of Joshua, God called upon Joshua to be strong and courageous. As a result of his obedience to God’s laws, Joshua led the children of Israel into the Promised Land.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is a modern-day Joshua, demonstrating himself to be bold and courageous, standing for biblical truth. In a news conference yesterday, Patrick challenged liberal RINO Speaker Joe Straus to pass SB 6, the Women’s Privacy Act, “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms!” and SB 2, Property Tax Reform or he will force a special session of the legislature.
Patrick declared his commitment to fulfilling promises that he had made to the people who elected him, even if a special session were required. In response, Texas House Speaker Joe Straus complained that, “Governor Patrick’s threat to force a special session unless he gets everything his way is regrettable, and I hope that he reconsiders.”
At CRTX News, we have have placed over 5.5 million phone calls to Republican Primary Voters (RPVs), then having them call their state senators, then their state representatives, and the governor, telling them to support SB 6.
Straus and his puppeteer, Rep. Byron Cook, and their lieutenants have decided that regardless of the threat to the privacy and safety of our mothers, wives, daughters, and granddaughters, the state should allow perverted men and boys, including registered sex offenders, into women’s and girls’ public and school bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms. Although SB 6 was overwhelmingly passed by the Texas Senate by a 21-10 margin on March 14, Straus has not even sent SB 6 to a committee, refusing to let the people’s elected representatives vote on this critical legislation.
84% of Texas RPVs support SB 6. Not only is it the right thing for legislators to support SB 6, but it is also the politically smart thing to do. Yet only 40 of the 95 Republicans have been willing to sign on to SB 6. Because Straus opposes it, they are allowing themselves to become his lackeys and are refusing to sign on to SB 6. They do not want to be forced to vote on SB 6. How are they going to win reelection when their constituents learn that they would not stand up to protect women’s privacy and safety by supporting SB 6?
Speaker Straus has chosen the role of a dictator who believes he is smarter than everyone else and will do everything possible to push his liberal agenda on the state of Texas. He is controlled by the Democrats who enabled him to be elected speaker in 2009 and in every session since. Straus has sold out to the interests of liberal big business, Planned Parenthood, and the pro-homosexual movement.
Thank God that Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has the courage of his Christian convictions to champion and lead the conservative cause in the Texas Legislature. Patrick will not bow down to Straus’ liberal agenda for the state. In fact, Gov. Patrick has made it clear that he will call for a special session if Straus continues to deny the people’s representatives a vote on SB 6. This my friends is political courage. Please contact Gov. Patrick’s office and thank him for his bold, consistent, and courageous leadership! His Austin office number is (512) 463-0001.
Straus’ leadership is crumbling because he has been exposed as an amoral bully who, in spite of his words to the contrary, completely disregards and disrespects his fellow legislators who actually adhere to the conservative positions of the Republican Party Platform. How dare he complain about Lt. Governor Dan Patrick who consistently demonstrates that he is a principled leader of character, courage and integrity? Straus seems to be offended by Patrick’s unwillingness to compromise his promises and principles.
Straus’ poor leadership and his unwillingness to pass 28 pieces of conservative legislation, passed by the Texas Senate, is regrettable. Straus needs to bring up SB 6 for a vote by the Texas House. That is the way to avoid a special session.
