“For the Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all.”
The word, sovereignty, has as its root, sovereign. Sovereign means the supreme ruler, especially a monarch. The sovereign is the ruler, the crowned head of state, the potentate, the one who reigns. It is derived from the Latin word “superanus,” which means the overlord.
Sovereignty is the supreme power or authority, jurisdiction, rule, supremacy, dominion, power, ascendancy, domination, authority and control that the sovereign exerts.
Our Sovereign is the Lord of Hosts who is to be feared. He is a great King over all the earth. He reigns over the nations. He sits upon His holy throne. He alone is highly exalted. See Psalm 104.
As we strive to restore our nation to its Godly heritage, to its Biblical roots, we must focus on the mighty God whom we serve. We are involved in the struggle of the ages, God and His people against God’s enemy, Satan, and his forces.
The following words should encourage us.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!’ For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
“You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day;
Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand,
but it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, your refuge, even the Most High your dwelling place. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you will trample down.”
(Psalm 91:1-9, 12-13)
We derive our strength for the battle from the Holy Spirit who empowers us with Jesus Christ’s resurrection power. God sent His only begotten Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as an atonement for our sins, so that He might condemn sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who no longer walk in the flesh, but in the spirit. For the law of the Spirit in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death. When our minds are set on the Spirit we experience life and peace. See Romans 8.
Therefore, let us renew our commitment to serve our Sovereign King in this battle for the hearts and souls of men and restore our nation to its Godly heritage.
All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for you to do nothing.
“Through God we shall do valiantly, and it is He Who will tread down our adversaries.” – Psalm 108:13
