Restore Our Nation to Its Christian Heritage

Our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 in Philadelphia. George Washington was chosen to be the Commanding General of the Continental Army. Although the Continental Army had initial victories at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts on April 19, 1776, it had been in retreat since its major defeat at the Battle of Long Island, August 27, 1776. This led to a string of defeats which decimated Washington’s army through the desertion of over 10,000 soldiers, leaving him with just 3,500 soldiers. It appeared that the United States’ bid for Independence was doomed to failure.

In December of 1776, Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet entitled American Crisis, which was published in a Pennsylvania newspaper and brought to the attention of General Washington.

Washington was so moved by the article that he called his troops together and read it to them.  This had a profound effect on the army’s morale and rallied his men to action. The Colonial Army crossed the Delaware River, Christmas night, 1776, and defeated the German Hessian mercenaries in a surprise attack at Trenton, New Jersey on December 26, 1776. The momentum of the war shifted dramatically, bringing in thousands of new volunteer soldiers, which ultimately led to the American victory over the British.

This is what Thomas Paine wrote in his pamphlet that inspired the soldiers in the Continental Army, “These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country, but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered, yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

The Biblical faith of our Founding Fathers was the basis upon which the American Revolution was fought and the principles upon which the Constitution was written.

John Jay was the President of the Continental Congress, author of the Federalist Papers and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1789-1795. He wrote, “The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and regulate your life by its precepts.” This sentiment was shared by the signers of the Declaration of Independence and of the U.S. Constitution. On February 29, 1892 the Supreme Court of the United State declared, in Holy Trinity v. United States, that the historical record of America overwhelmingly demonstrated that the United States “…is a Christian nation.”

This is our nation’s history. Unfortunately, over the last 100 years, godless secularists have infiltrated the educational institutions, the seats of government, the bureaucracies and even many religious denominations. The history of our nation’s Biblical moorings have been eliminated from the history books.

It appears that those who promote atheistic perversion and communism are advancing with little or no opposition. They are seeking to destroy the Biblical basis and morality upon which our nation was founded. The killing of the unborn, the sexualization of children in schools by the LGBTQIA, the transgender movement, men in women’s bathrooms, showers, locker rooms and athletics, drag queens reading to children in public schools and libraries, the promotion of Satanic themes in movies and on TV, the mass invasion of millions of illegal immigrants, terrorists, criminals and child sex traffickers are being promoted or allowed by those in power.

If ever there was a time for Christians to be bold and courageous and act, now is the time. We must be committed to restoring our nation to its Christian heritage.

It’s time for Christians to rally under the banner of our King, Jesus Christ, and advance His Great Commission in America and worldwide. The Biblical worldview applies to every area of life, including civil government. The Biblical worldview of our Founding Fathers changed the course of history. We must follow in their train.

Remember Jesus’ words, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:18-20, The Great Commission)

We can stand firm and resist Satan by putting on the full armor of God. (Ephesians 6:10-17) We can overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and by our testimony. (Revelation 12:11)

“The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” (Proverbs 28:1)

Christians must declare God’s faithfulness to America and testify of His greatness, love, and redeeming power. We must once again become One Nation Under God.

The upcoming General Election is the most critical one in the history of our country. If ever Christians must let their voices be heard, it is during this election season.

“When the righteous rule, the people rejoice. But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” (Proverbs 29:2)

We must inspire and motivate our fellow Christians to take action. We must proclaim the Gospel and call for nonbelievers to turn from their sins and embrace Jesus Christ as their Lord, Savior and King.
